Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Over Sizing Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
